PopRockX

X had his first experience with PopRocks today. I don't foresee any potential issues with introducing concentrated sugar into X's system, do you.

Wal-Mart Diving

This morning, while in line, at Wal-mart, X-man climbed up a spider man and dove face first into the floor. Luckily Wal-Marts have clinics and a Dr was on hand to check him out. No permanent injuries, but he does have an eagle beak phat upper lip.

Dinner Out with X

Tonight I treated the fam to a "nice" dinner out. Ok, ElChico may not be top of the colonary arts to you, but for us its a rare treat.

Dinner and a show is always fun, we just tend to bring our show with us. As we where waiting to be seated, I see my wife dart off to the host stand. X had ran behind the host station and was grabbing the restaurant intercom mic. He was about 2 inches from the call button when she got him.

Latter in the meal he chucked a crayola at the table behind us. Luckily no injuries. Honestly, correct him and keep an eye on him. And he is learning. He is so smart and determined.

Wrestling

X and his brother Z where just wrestling on my bed. They where laughing and giggling. I heard Z say, "I'm stuck, man X your good at this". X had his brother in a submission hold with his legs crossed over his brothers knee, locking his foot underneath his bottom. He was laughing at the control he had over his brother 2 years older than himself. they where both having a great time. I untied them and now there watching StarWars.

7/15/08

So far today X removed his diaper, peed in my closet, then peed and had diarrhea in the kitchen. Now I'm nursing a bloody nose. Result of being scratched by X in the midst of snuggling.

Library

This evenings adventure: Library.

Am I nuts, what was I thinking. X did very well, we have only jumped off of two stools and only ripped one book from the shelf. His volume was surprisingly good. Overall it was a good visit.

The taking off at a straight sprint behind the check out counter, running laps in the kids department and attempting to pull the display lights from the coffee shop spelled the end to our visit.

Bring You Up To Date

OK, Here are the major Adventures to date:

10/8/05 - Breaks collar bone being born. Does not cry and is not even known about until 10 days later when x-rayed for another issue.

10/18/05 - Admitted to hospital for RSV. Recovers in about 3-5 days.

9/06 - He starts to walk

OK, I know that up to this point your probably thinking "big deal isn't that about normal?" yeah, just give it a little. Keep in mind this is the intro.

3/07 - Hits something with his elbow and gets a septic joint. Swells up, gets hot, yeah, septic. Has to have surgery on the joint having it evacuated. 10 hours after surgery the orthopedic surgeon visits his hospital recovery room to check on his status, to his surprise he finds Xander using the elbow to do pull ups on the widow ledge. They then have to insert a direct line to administer medicine. They state it will be 6 weeks or until his body recovers before they can remove the line. Tests are done every other day. Line is removed in 7 days. Check up by home health, primary care and orthopedic surgeon clears him as 100% in just a week.

11/07 - Learns how to operate alarm clocks in house. Will come into the room early in the morning, before we wake up and turn off alarm clocks. Necessitates the need for multiple alarms on different devices. When he is in the mood, he can shut off 2 out of 3 alarms before I wake up.

6/07 - plays at park and holds a V-Seat pull up for approximately 45 min. Can do complete pull up and a pull-over.

9/07 - climbs up kitchen drawers to counter, opens child locked cabinet, gets aspirin, rips off child proof lid and starts to attempt eat the contents. Mom, hears that there is silence in the house, figures something is up and gets to him before he can eat any. Whew. Thank God for observant and quick mothers.

10/07 - upon entering our house, goes straight to the wall above our couch, sticks his hand into the sheet rock and pulls 3 feet of sheet rock off the wall. Upon catching that, goes straight to an end table and knocks a vase off and shatters it, then goes and grabs a bill, lights it on a candle and lights another end table under some curtains on fire. All he does while laughing and smiling and just for the curiosity. The entire adventure takes less than 10 min, but about a week to clean up.

1/08 - Examined by pediatrician, rated in the 99th - 100 percentile. Weighs the same as his 4 year old brother, but 2 inches shorter and very low body fat.

1/08 - Jumps off of porch 2 feet taller than himself, wile at sitters. Walks away unscathed.

2/08 - Pulls big wooden chair from dinning room into kitchen, uses to get on cabinet and climbs onto top of refrigerator. gets the 1x2x1 candy basket. carries back down to the floor and proceeds to eat and disperse candy to the children of the house. Is caught because oldest sibling tells on him.

3/08 - I have a bluetooth virtual laser keyboard that I had paired to an HTC Touch. Xander figures out how to pair it, and will come in while I'm not in the room, turn it on, open ether a MS Word Doc or a memo file on the Touch and type gobely gook. He learned how to quick reset the keyboard, so when I would come into the room he would turn it off quickly and give me a "I'm sweet and cute" look. I have snuck into the room to observe the process, and caught him red handed on a couple of occasions.

5/08 - Removes lid from turtle tank and is retreaving the crawdad
5/08 - Feeds opens little feeding trap in fish tank and dumps half of fish food in.

6/08 - I start my day by saying, "Xander put the wii remote back together"
6/08 - Caught him bouncing off of the trampoline to the ground and rolling, then pops up laughing. He repeats.

7/08 - At pool. while eating, he takes off his floaties, bolts and jumps into pool and starts bobbing. Mother immediately jumps in and gets him. He is laughing and sputtering. Then 15 min later, upon leaving the pool, when getting dressed to go,turns 180, runs full speed and jumps back into the pool, he starts to swim and is immediately pulled from pool. Second time slightly startled him. we actually had a tear.
7/08 - Second oldest daughter comes into our room proclaiming, Xander just fixed the DVD player. Their VCR/DVD combo had not played through their TV for about a month. Xander had decided he wanted to watch a DVD in their room and had tinkered with all the buttons until he got it to work. He was then camped out in his sisters room relaxing and watching the movie.
7/08 - Climbs up toilet, gets into cabinet that is 5 feet above ground, gets baby powder, rips off lid and dumps on bathroom floor.
7/08 - Climbs up toilet, gets into cabinet that is 5 feet above ground, gets baby powder, rips off lid and dumps on other bathroom floor.
7/08 - Climbs dresser to gets to get to moved baby powder, now resting on top of tv stand that is 5 feet above ground, gets baby powder, rips off lid and dumps on living room floor.

We'll keep ya posted.

The Back Story

I have 4 great children. They are all intelligent, strong and confident. We have always wanted a large family, so to have four is incredible. All our children have exhibited characteristics of strength, intelligent and confidences. All have been curious and two have been very strong willed. Our last son, Xander, shares in the characteristics. However, he also has several personality an physical attributes which makes him..... um.... interesting.

We, as all new parents prayed for a healthy child, on all 4 of our kids. We spent many hours counting fingers and toes. I also personally probably owe a great many apologies for continuing to bug the nurses and doctors with my many "is that normal?", "Should he/she make that noise?", "Should that come out of him/her?", "should that be that color?" and "does it always smell like that?". So to we are tremendously blessed to have all four of our children be healthy.

Then when your kids are born, you spend many hours and lots of effort keeping them safe. Praying for protection and giving your life for that cause. We screen tv, get good insurance, take them to the doctor and kiss their bobo's. So when you have a kid that is, uh, hearty, it can be a little bit of a relief.

This brings me to Xander. He is a very healthy 2 year old boy. Xander (who we tend to call X or X-man) tends to live up to his birth nomenclature. Xander Drake - Defender of Man the Dragon. X tends to be, well, here are some of the adjectives that doctors, nurses, Us as parents, friends and pastors have used: Strong, Build, Hearty, Adventuresome, Intelligent, FEARLESS, No Pain Receptors, Quick healer, Endowed (yes, its what you're thinking. this came from his pediatrician), cute, brave, just to name a few. It seems like daily he uses his strength, intelligence, determination to balance the levels of chaos in the world. Newtons laws of thermodynamics state that the amount of chaos in the universe remains constant, so therefore if chaos increases in one area it decreases in another. So X tends to cause peace in the universe by centralizing the chaos around us. These anecdotes are adventuresome and interesting and have kept us on our toes and constantly surprise us. I have been saying for about a year now, that I should write them down and share them. So here it is. I have finally decided to document X-mans adventures.

I hope you find this interesting and informative. Maybe you'll laugh. Maybe you'll just be glad its not you.

Enjoy.
